Getting our game on

While winter has been lasting for what seems like 6 months, the kids and I have been looking for things to do around town to get out of the house. One of our adventures led us to the College Football Hall of Fame. For the most part, the kids liked it and we had the place to ourselves which was nice. I guess now I know why it is moving!

Checking out the fight songs. Bly even knew which one was ND, so I guess we are doing something right.

Azzi the animal lover was fascinated by the giant mascots.

Caged animal

One weekend we had friends come who brought their dog and her crate. We soon found out that Azley loved the crate and was constantly climbing in. On some days this just might be the answer I was looking for!

Open the door...

...shut the door. All day long.

Progress

While he is not ready to lace it up for the Blackhawks, Bly did improve on his hockey skills. By the end, he was skating around (slowly) and even shooting the puck. These are a few pictures from his last practice.

Dr Suess

Dear old Dr. Seuss celebrated his birthday recently and in a family full of teachers, this is an event not to be overlooked. Bly loves his books, especially Green Eggs and Ham so he was game for the festivities. We were able to attend a birthday celebration at the library where the Cat in the Hat came as a special visitor. While Bly sat with me, Azley took her spot in the front of the kids next to the librarian and proceeded to read from a book she swiped on her way up. While the Cat slowed her for a second she was undeterred from her self-proclaimed spot in the front. Again, this is why we don't hit many storytimes.

Bly took his picture with the Cat (kind of). Azley would not stand still long enough to get off a shot.

Daddy does my hair

Tim has been able to help with the kids a little more in the mornings lately and Azley loves to see her Daddy walk through her door first thing in the morning. The girl has some hair, so when I normally get her up, I pull it back so it isn't in her eyes which she hates. Now I understand that Daddy does not have the years of training on Barbies and My Little Ponies under his belt, but it really isn't rocket science.

Here are two instances of Daddy doing hair:

I do not think that this pictures truly shows the bad hair but you can read it all over her face.

And in true man styling, what happens when a guy wants to cover his hair:

This was explained to me when I came downstairs as she was having a fit because her hair was in her face and I panicked and didn't know what else to do.

Pretty in Pink

Before we left for the trip, I bought Azzi a pair of flip-flops. While she could barely walk in them, she loved them and wanted to wear them around the house constantly. Well, any girl knows that if you are going to have your feet out, then your nails need to be painted. Now this is the same child that it takes two adults to hold her down to cut her toe nails so I wasn't sure how this experiment was going to go. Needless to say in pure Azzi style, she loved the color on her toes and she had to keep checking to make sure it was still there periodically. She is a girl through and through.

Look what we did Mom!
